I have a question, not a comment: Have you any messages from smokers who have experienced a severe allergic reactions to propylene glycol as a result of inhaling e-liquid with a PG base in their e-cigarettes? I'm almost positive that I'm such a person. Thanks!

About the e-cigs: YES! Switch to VG! I found some suppliers that offer 100% VG and I switched, and almost immediately my face cleared up and I'm not feeling like my throat is closing up. I didn't know I was sensitive to PG until I started vaping.

I have had an itchy head for about two years, then other problems such as night sweats, rashes, itching. Then the severe angioedema kicked in with hives. Two nights ago I almost died when my throat started swelling shut. Quit smoking cigarettes two months ago and went to ecigs. They use propylene glycol. I've just realized that I am allergic to it and have just poisoned myself almost to death from the e-cigs!

Pretty sure I'm allergic but not bad. I was using e-cigarettes enthusiastically to replace my smoking habit. Maybe after 3 months I developed a persistent and VERY itchy rash on my neck, scalp, and chest. Lotions, creams, herbal, organic--- nothing helped. I lapsed back to smoking and the rash went away but I didn't make the connection. After a few months I started back with the e-cig. After a couple of weeks the rash came back, disturbing my sleep, mystifying me almost to point of going to a dermatologist. Then I thought well what about the e-cig, and goggled glycol allergy. And found this site. Quit the e-cig, and the rash was gone within days. E-cigs are basically tiny heating elements that vaporize propylene glycol so you can inhale it. Aside from the allergy I suspect it's at least more benign than smoking. I don't seem to suffer from occasional exposure but I try to minimize that by reading labels and using glycol free products whenever I can. Thanks everybody, I'm glad things are improving and we're getting some relief. Keep a good thought...
